Ezra Cohen, adjunct fellow at Hudson Institute, focusing on intelligence policy, and John Fitzpatrick, risk management executive with expertise in intelligence, defense, industrial and international security affairs, briefed the group on whether or not continuing controlled unclassified information classifications makes sense.

Ezra Cohen and John Fitzpatrick, in their presentation “Does Continuing Controlled Unclassified Information Classifications Make Sense?”, highlighted the intricate challenges of the U.S. government’s information control, focusing on whether certain Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) classifications are still relevant. They emphasized how excessive government control over information that should otherwise be more accessible has negatively impacted both collaboration and progress in national security efforts.
