This meeting featured a presentation by Richard Lawless, former Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs and author of Hunting Nukes: A Fifty-Year Pursuit of Atomic Bomb Builders and Mischief Makers. Mr. Lawless discussed the challenges he faced clearing his book manuscript through the CIA, his continuing challenge removing redactions that the Pentagon is insisting upon, and the implications of the Pentagon’s classification policies for U.S. nuclear nonproliferation policy.
