Home Surmounting the Obstacles to Accessing Classified War Simulations

6/11/24

This workshop features remarks by Dr. Jacquelyn Schneider, Hoover Fellow and Director of the Hoover Wargaming and Crisis Simulation Initiative. Her presentation covered a variety of topics related to her research, including:

  •  The misuse of low levels of classification to prevent the sharing of declassified war games.
  •  The lack of an appeal process for mandatory classification reviews, including for past war games.
  •  The question of how the government will handle cataloging classified information (including that related to war games) as it moves towards dealing with digital records
  •  The increasing need for oral histories because of the decline in decision-making documentation, including documentation related to war games.
